Students enrolled in the Professional Scuba Dive Instructor program have financed their program several different ways.  The most common being:

Student Loans

The entire program is student loan eligible.  The BC Ministry of Advanced Education allows funding up to certain amount per week and the PSDI program is eligible for 26 weeks of funding.  Student loans differ between provinces and are based on an individual’s financial situation, etc., and therefore amounts may vary.

Student Lines of Credit

Many students have also applied for Student Lines of Credit through financial institutions/Credit Unions for the program.  If you have a specific institution that you deal with, you may want to talk to them first, however, there are many institutions to choose from.  It is important to know that different institutions have different lending policies.

RESP’s

Many families invest in Registered Education Savings Plans which may be used to pay for tuition.

RRSP’s

Under the Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP), you may be able to withdraw funds from your Registered Retirement Savings Plan to finance your education.

Part-Time Work

Past students have found part-time work in Sechelt to assist in the costs of living, etc.

Government Assistance

Students have received funding through various Government Assistance Programs such as Human Resource through Employment Insurance.  Contact your local employment services office or visit http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/audiences/youth/education.shtml

First Nations Sponsorship

Past students have been supported through education programs provided by their band.

Bursaries and Scholarships

Students may be eligible to apply for Bursaries and Scholarships available directly through Capilano University.
